Energy Rebates
Your electric utility may offer rebates for energy-efficient replacement windows that reduce heat gain, lower utility bills and increase comfort. Utility programs, amounts and requirements change, so always confirm the current terms with your utility before you buy.
Duke Energy offers a rebate of $4 per square foot of window area (up to $800) on east-, west- and south-facing windows that meet its efficiency requirements (SHGC of 0.21 or lower and U-factor of 0.27 or lower). A free Duke Energy Home Energy Check within the last 24 months is required, and Duke's terms apply. Confirm current details with Duke Energy before you buy.

Homeowner's Insurance Incentives
Florida law requires home insurers to offer premium discounts for proven wind-loss mitigation (s. 627.0629, Fla. Stat.). When your openings are protected with impact-rated windows and doors, a wind-mitigation inspection documents it on the state’s uniform mitigation verification form, and many homeowners then see a lower windstorm premium.

Free Wind-Mitigation Inspection
Who May Qualify for a Grant
The State of Florida’s My Safe Florida Home program is accepting applications. Eligible homeowners can receive matching grants of up to $10,000 toward recommended upgrades, including impact windows, exterior doors, garage doors and skylights. The state generally contributes $2 for every $1 from the homeowner; qualifying low-income homeowners may not need a match. Start at mysafeflhome.com or call 850-427-2559.

Through My Safe Florida Home, eligible homeowners can get a free wind-mitigation inspection. The home must be owner-occupied, site-built and homesteaded: a detached single-family home, or an attached one (such as a townhome) up to three stories. The report lists recommended improvements and estimated insurance discounts.
Under Florida law, grant applicants generally must: be eligible for the inspection; have a home insured for $700,000 or less that was built before January 1, 2008; have completed a program inspection within the past 24 months; and meet the program’s low- or moderate-income guidelines. Only the State can determine eligibility.
What About the Federal Tax Credit?
The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (Section 25C) has ended. The IRS allows it only for qualifying improvements made through December 31, 2025, so windows and doors installed in 2026 do not qualify. If your project was installed in 2025 or earlier, ask your tax professional. See the IRS page.
Florida Home-Hardening Sales Tax Refund
Florida now offers a refund of the sales tax paid on impact-resistant windows, doors and garage doors bought between July 1, 2026 and June 30, 2029 and installed on a homesteaded, site-built home with a just value of $700,000 or less. The refund is capped at $500, one property per owner, and must be claimed from the Florida Department of Revenue by September 30, 2029 using Forms DR-26S and DR-26HH plus receipts showing the Florida sales tax paid. When a contractor furnishes and installs the products, the receipt is the one showing the tax paid on the contractor’s purchase of the products. Ask us for the paperwork you need.
