What’s Changing for Florida Energy Rebates
Effective May 6, 2025, Duke Energy’s Florida Residential Home Energy Improvement program is offering increased rebates of up to $3,800 for qualifying energy efficiency upgrades for Florida homeowners. This newly approved rebate program provides substantial financial incentives for homeowners looking to make their home’s windows, HVAC systems, and/or heat pump water heating more energy efficient.
How to Claim Replacement Window Rebates
- Request a free Duke Energy Home Energy Check (Duke Energy customers only).
- Select a window contractor to have energy-efficient windows installed. Any windows which have a minimum Solar Heat Gain Coefficient less than or equal to 0.21 and U-Value equal to or less than 0.27 are eligible. (Karoly Windows installs eligible replacement windows in the greater Tampa Bay area. If you’d like a quote on replacement windows eligible for Duke Energy rebates, give us a call at (727) 270-8662 or request a quote online).

Why Upgrade?
Investing in energy-efficient home improvements delivers substantial benefits that extend far beyond the initial rebates. Here’s why making these upgrades should be a priority for Florida homeowners:
Financial Benefits
- Immediate Utility Savings: Energy-efficient windows, HVAC systems, and water heaters can significantly reduce your monthly energy bills. According to the EPA, the average Tampa-area homeowner saves $541 annually in energy bills by replacing a full set of single-pane windows and $369 annually by replacing double-pane windows. (Download the full report here).
- Long-Term Value: While the upfront cost of energy-efficient upgrades can be significant, the combination of Duke Energy rebates, federal tax credits, and ongoing utility savings can provide a return on investment within 3-7 years, with continued benefits for many years afterward.
Cash Incentives for Home Maintenance
Most windows need to be replaced each 10-20 years. If you’re considering replacement windows, taking 1-2 hours to have an expert inspector assess whether the windows need to be replaced can be very helpful. If new windows are needed, the energy check report can save you up to $800 on replacement windows in energy rebates.
Comfort Improvements
- Consistent Indoor Temperature: Energy-efficient windows and properly sized HVAC systems eliminate hot and cold spots throughout your home, maintaining comfortable temperatures in every room.
- Reduced Humidity: Modern HVAC systems are more effective at controlling humidity.
- Reduced Noise: Newer HVAC models operate more quietly than older models. For replacement windows, some of our most recent models offer sound reduction of up to 50% vs. standard windows.
Environmental and Health Benefits
- Reduced Carbon Footprint: Lower energy consumption directly translates to reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
- Improved Indoor Air Quality: New HVAC systems with proper filtration reduce dust and allergens.
Property Value
- Increased Market Appeal: Remodeled homes typically sell faster and command higher prices. According to the EPA, window replacement projects retain 65-75% of their value at resale.
- Favorable Appraisals: Many appraisers now recognize energy-efficient improvements in their home valuations, potentially increasing your property’s assessed value.
- Future-Proofing: As energy codes become more stringent, homes with existing efficiency upgrades will maintain their value better than those requiring retrofits to meet new standards.
